She lived for years with severe pain in both knees associated with rheumatoid arthritis. In the two years prior to her surgeries, her mobility deteriorated to the point of near-complete dependence on a wheelchair, despite medical treatment and pain management. She received total knee replacements in stages — right knee in April and left knee in November 2023. Today she shares her story standing up, supported by her walker, having regained mobility that for years had seemed out of reach.

A carpenter by trade, he lived approximately seven years with progressive pain from advanced osteoarthritis of the left knee. He arrived at the program constantly dependent on a cane, with difficulty walking and performing daily activities. He had tried medications and injections, but relief was always temporary. After years of waiting for an opportunity to receive definitive treatment, that door finally opened with his total knee replacement.

A guard at a public school, he lived for several years with pain and progressive deterioration of both knees. He came to depend on two crutches to walk and had a marked loss of strength and function, to the point of putting his ability to continue working at risk. After multiple treatments with limited relief, he received total knee replacements in stages — right knee in November 2023 and left knee in January 2025 — regaining a real opportunity to remain active, independent, and productive.
